Reading the curves (6 terms)
Each trace is one finding (paper × stratification). Filters narrow what's shown; the Refit live button below the chart fits a 4-parameter logistic in your browser.
- Curve type
- psychometric (P right by signed evidence), accuracy_by_strength (P correct by absolute evidence), chronometric (median RT by evidence), hit_rate (per-condition success rate). Pick one in the View row.
- Stimulus axis
- Signed coherence, signed contrast, signed click difference, etc. — different paradigms calibrate evidence on different axes. The atlas keeps incompatible axes apart on purpose; only one at a time.
- μ (bias)
- Mid-asymptote crossing of the psychometric. Positive μ means the curve sits to the right of zero — the subject leans toward 'right' even with no signed evidence.
- σ (slope width)
- Width of the logistic. Larger σ = shallower psychometric = lower discriminability. Per-axis comparable; cross-axis values aren't.
- x at 75%
- Threshold — the signed-evidence value at which the fitted curve crosses 0.75 P(right) (or 0.84 for accuracy). Reads in the same units as the x axis.
- Source level
- Point shape on the chart: circle = raw or processed trials, square = figure source data, triangle = aggregate. Lower-strength sources should be read with more caution.
